He did mo and the calf is reported as doing fine ly, though it haa neither received hay nor meal since he got it. lie eats the best and finest Itay he lias, abont two inches long and pours boiling water over it; le fit stand nntil cooled to abont the heat of milk from the cow, when the tea is given . to the calf and the hay to the cow. The cul tivation of the sunflower is said to meet with great favor from the planters in British Guinea. fcCGGESTIONS FOIC THE LADIES. Kirv Styles in Belts. In belts, the variety shown seems to increase daily. Those of Telvet, leather, Knssia leather nl seal-ekin, with their three silver clasps, are not new, but novel designs in the clasps are shown, and two metals are used in combination with the same good effect as in jewelry. Some belts appear which are composed entirely of metal, and will look well with every toilet, lighting np a dark dress, and corresponding with a lighter garment. The eiDgle clasps for belts are no smaller than those worn last year, and all the old jokes about doorplates will continue in force ; but some of these square and oval plates are wrought in designs well worth studying, both for elaboration and beauty, and it will be probably some time beforo they disappear entire ly.
