LATE NEWS ITEMS. At Harrisburg Fa. two children named Wood wero fatally and two others seriously burned by the explosion of coal oil with which tho eldest agod 11 was light- ing a Uro. At rhiladolphia ou tho 11th Robert jIcAdnms 12 years old and Charles Patton of the samo age quarreled over the posses- lion of a stick of candy l'utton threatened to shoot McAduras If he did not divide with blm. As the latter still refused l'utton drow a pistol and shot MoAdums through the head killing blm almost instantly. The young murderor then fled but was subse- quently arrested. Forty miners were killed by an ex- plosion in Unity Brook colliery near Bol- ton England on tho 11th. Chicago kaa been compelled to large- ly reduce Its police and fire force on uccount of present lack of funds and greatly reduced appropriations for future expenditure.
