Ming It CuulíyT The lust San Antonio I let-aid contains an extract from Kendall' new edition of the Narrative of the Santa Fe Ex- pedition, which given us an idea of what may bo called perfect coolness and indiflereuce while surrounded by danger: a daring set were the old Tex- an Rangers. The scene of Kendall's anecdote is laid on the Salado—tliu titne 1843, when the Mexican host, under Gen. Woll, attacked the votern Cald- well, or "Old Paint" as he was univer- inlly called, who had taken a stand, with a far inferior force, under the banks of the stream. The Herald says that perhaps some ol its readers partici- pated in the conllict, and although tiiey may not be able to endorse thv trulh of ■tory, they can at least laugh at it.
