RED CROSS LEAGUE ---oxU An influential and enthusiastic meeting of the women of Healesville was held on Tuesday at Mrs Hurl. stone's residence to consider the advi sability of forming sewing meetings to make clothing comforts for the Tmen who are going to the war; also the formation of First Aid classes. It was unanimously decided to form both, Miss McAuley was elected president of the Sewing Band and Mrs Jollifre secretary. Ladies willing to help are asked to meet at the Shire Hall on Monday at 2.30 p m. Dona tions in money for bu) ing materials will be accepted. The Shire Presi. dent (Cr J, R. Crooke) has enlisted the help of the ladies from the Bux ton, Narbethong and Mlarysville cen tres, and they are working with great enthusiasm to provide necessaries for the sick and wostnded solpidiers. League was held at Mrs Hurlstone's resideno on Tuesday, August 11th, There was a very good attendance of mem bers, about 65 being present. The annual report showed good work had been done during the year, the membership having increased to 102 and the interest steadily main tamed, Mrs Hurlston was re-elected pre sident, Miss McAuley and Mrs Den nis vice-presidents, Miss Shaw hon. secrAtary and Miss Dennis treasurer. The retiring commnittee were re-elce. ted. Mrs Sachre, from the Central, pre sided over the meeting until election of oflice-bearers; then ilMrs urlstone took t e chair and called on Mrs Sachre to address the meeting, which she did in a bright and interesting unanner.
