The IBillaliong- DauiD. SOME BIG LAW CASES. It will be recollected that applications were made some months ago by Mr. Sv M'Caughey of Coonong, Mr. D. M'Caughey of Corcc, and others for licenses to construct dams on the Colombo and Billabong Creeks. These cases came before the Local Board at Narandera and Urana in due coursc and a certain decision was given to which con [ ditions were attached providing for the I construction of by-washes, bottoms of which were to be at the uniform height of nine feet from the natural bed of the creek. The con struction of tho byAvashes meant the reduc tion of the height of the stored water in tho dams under consideration by about for four feet and thus, the stationowners lower down the Billabong Creek would benefit not only by the quantity of water which was there fore stored by the dams when at their full height and which would be let away when tho by-washes were constructed, but also by the increased flow from the Murrumbidgee river, of which the ...
