The Rainfall. [Newspaper Article] — The Hillston Spectator and Lachlan River Advertiser — 19 February 1898

The Rainfall. '?The light rain on Thursday even ing of last week proved but the pre cursor of a splendid aud general down pour, which extended over a large area of the colony, and in many parts has effectually ended the disastrous drought and enervating heatwave. The-Hills tori district was particularly fortunate in its share of the full, and the quant ity registered on the general run of pastoral properties will go a long way to ensure a, good season ahead, and make a surety of the lambing. On the north side of the river and on tt.e Willandra Creek the average was about 2£in., and up about Will.inthry the fall was greater still, so much rain failing as to start all the creeks running strongly, and on Sunday a fair stream was coming down the Lachlan at Wil lanthry bridge, being the result of 1 jcal rain. South of Hillston, on a line j from McKinley across to I\1 1. Boother aganda, registrations of from 2Jin. to 'lin. were recorded. The tanks at Camp Plain were all filled. At Mt. Boo...
