Deniliquin Municipal Council. [Newspaper Article] — The Independent — 1 February 1901

Deniliquin Municipal Council. The ordinary fortnightly meeting of the Municipal Council, called for Monday evening last, was adjourned for a week in consequence of the death of Her Majesty Queen Victoria. The Mayor, in referring to the death of the Queen, said he had sent a telegram to Lord Hopetoun, Governor-General, on behalf of the Council and residents of Deniliquin, the contents oi which read as follows : — "My Council, on behalf of the inhabitants of Deniliquin, desire me to express tbeir intense sorrow at the sad news of the (deatth of our beloved and respected Queen.-G. H. Perrin. Mayor. To which he had received the following reply:-   "I beg to thank your Worship and Council for   the expressions of your sorrow at the death of Queen Victoria, which you have been good enough to convey on behalf of the inhabitants of Deniliquin— HOPTETOUN, Governor-General.'
