Current Notes. [Newspaper Article] — The North Queensland Register — 15 June 1892

[BY JUVENIS] ACCORDING to a Cairns contemporary the coat and waist-coat seems to be the   essential element of male attire, to make man     presentable to the fair sex. They had a fancy dress ball there the other day and a   certain gentleman had the audacity to appear   without these indispensable articles of attire,   for which grave offence against the laws of decorum, he is somewhat severely handled   by the local press. A hat may be worn, it appears, but this is to be no excuse for doffing the coat and waist-coat in the presence of   the fair ones in Cairns. The gentleman it seems, was habited in some costume, which he considered of a national character, but whether a bushman, stockman, or miner,   does not appear, and had the extreme audacity to leave his coat at home, "hence   those tears." Not only were the fair ones shocked, the rest, according t...
