SHIP NEWS. - On Tuesday last sailed the brig Jupiter, Capt, FERGUSON, for Port Jackson. Remain in the harbour, His Majesty's armed brig Kangaroo ; and the brig Sophia ; in Adventure Bay, the American ship Enterprise. Amongst the passengers who arrived in the Kangaroo, we omitted to mention MAJOR M'KENZIE of the 46th Regt. We also have to state, that an English bull, 2 ewes and a ram of the Merino breed have been landed from the Kangaroo ; which we will no doubt be of service in increasing this species of flock in this Colony.     We commence a New Year, with every prospect of an abundant harvest ; and at the same time it is highly gratifying to us to re- mark, that by the late arrivals from England those columns which   were before...

IT being the Intention of the LIEUTENANT GOVERNOR to assist the Industrious and Deserving Settlers in getting in their Harvest, those Persons who are in absolute want of assistance from Govern- ment, are required to make Applications, in writing, on or before Wednesday the 22d Instant; wherein they are to state the Number   of Acres they have in Crop, in order that a reference may be made to the Truth of their Statements as well as to their Claims and Merits.
