KOJONUP A. & H. SOCIETY. The fourth annual show of the above society will be held on Thursday next, 7th November, and gives every promise to rival any previous one. The entries are coming in freely, although the time for closing does not expire until Wednesday, -the 6th. One feature of the show is that the greater part of the exhibits have never been shown at Katan" ning or on the Great Southern line. The cattle and horses will be worth seeing; in fact, the whole of the district will be largely represented in the stock sections. The following are the largest exhibitors so far:— Messrs. THE STEAMER PAROO ASHORE. AT FEE MANTLE. Fre mantle, November 1. The inter-state steamer Paroo, which was at Kobb's Jetty this morn ing for the purpose of landing stock, broke her moorings during last night's storm, and drifted ashore. The vessel, however, has so far weathered the storm, and it is considered that little damage will have been done to the hull, ivhich is resting on a sandy bottom. It is unlikely that the vessel will be got off until about 400 tons of cargo has been lightered.

He was employed erecting a large prod ace store for Messrs. F. and- C. USEFUL RECIPES. A Use For Onion Skins.—When onions are peeled for various dishes the outer brown skins should be saved, as they greatly improve the color and clearness of soup to which they are *dded, as well as increasing its flavour. Oysters a ifIudiehne.-—Take one dozen cooking oysters; prepare them and save their liquor; put two tea spoonfuls of curry powder, two tea epoonsfuks of flour, and half an ounce of butter into a small saucepan ; when blended, add. quarter of a pint of cream, a slice of apple finely chopped, a small onion finely chopped, stir till it boils, add a good squeeze of lemon juice ; at the last moment before serving add the oysters and their liquor (strained). Puv. a circle of rice round the dish, pour the curry in the middle and serve at once. Lemon Shape.—Two ounces^ of arrowroot, 6oz. of loaf sugar, the juice and rind of one lemon grated ; mix with one pint of boiling water. When cold add the yolks and whites of three eggs well beaten, aud boil all together...
