FOR THE MORNING POST. Life of Henry Clay, Published under ihe superintendence o/bq 'tb Whig Committees of the city of Hew York. J. Winchester, 1842. The superintending committees have not seen fi' , to favor the people with even an extract from the greatest speech of the "Man of the people." That speech was made rn the Senate of the United Stales in 1811; and occupies no less than five pages in the Life of Henry Clay by George D. Prentice. That speech was an argument, replete with keen and powerful logic, against the bill "renewing the charter ofthe old bank of the United States; and was principally confined to the subject of its unconstitutionally. "This vagreijt power to erect a bank" he says, "is referred, in 1791, to one part of tho constitution; in 1811, to another!" and in 1841, the "superintending commit-' tee" might have added, 'this vagrant power to erect a bank," after having wandered in vain, for half a century throughout the whole constitution in quest of soaie congeni...
