-The Dark Crystal - [Newspaper Article] — Capitol Times — 24 January 1983

-The Dark Crystal - Fantasy enthusiasts of all ages have waited with varying degrees of patience for the arrival of The Dark Crystal, our anticipation whetted by a remembrance of things past-Sesame Street, Yoda, and La Belle Piggy. When the longexpected wonder finally came to Harrisburg during the Christmas holidays, it proved to be, on the whole, a disappoint ment. There were some magic moments, but not enough to outweigh the heaviness of the story and the attempted symbolic devices. Somewhere, on a planet with three suns, a millenium approaches, when at the conjunction of the suns, a missing fragment is to be placed in the Dark Crystal-freeing the planet from the dominion of the evil Skexes and restoring the rule of the Gelflings. The crystal had been shattered at the previous conjunction, a thousand years before, at which time the Skexes, twelve evil bird-like creatures, and the Mystics, twelve semi-reptilian fourarmed creatures, had appeared. The Dark Crystal hangs in ...

®fl§@ ° ES@[l(oJ[JD By Michael Markle @@G Gfemos The bad news about Pat Benetar's latest album "Get Nervous" (Chrusalis) is that the broadcast media will overkill it. The public can be assured of constantly hearing tunes from "Get Nervous" on top-40 radio for at least the next six months. The good news is that the new album is excellent, catchy and listenable. Critics continually blast Benetar for the one-track nature of her subject matterlove lost and love found. These same critics can't deny that Benetar is a very talented performer who has blazed a trail for women in rock. "Get Nervous" was coproduced by Peter Coleman (along with Neil Geraldo), who also produced the hard-driving sound of Benetar's debut LP "In the Heat of the Night." Guitarist Scott St. Clair Sheets -has been replaced by keyboardist Charlie Giordano whose virtuosity richly embellishes the ten tunes on "Get Nervous." Side one opens with "Shadows of the Night" which, in case you've b...

Schade unfolds fantasy on stage [Newspaper Article] — Capitol Times — 24 January 1983

Schade unfolds fantasy on stage By Lisa Noro On Thursday evening, January 13,1983, The Independent Eye, a nationally known professional theatre, presented, LE CABARET DE CAMILLE, one woman's look into her fantasies co-sponsored by the Capitol Campus Cultural Events series and The Pennsylvania Council of the Arts. Eye veteran, Camilla Schade, took the autidorium's audience (a small crowd of 65) on an imaginary journey into her world as she became the star, supporting cast, band, stage crew and critic of her own fantasy cabaret. The sparsely decorated stage suddenly came alive as we became captured by Schade's capacity for comedy and the familiarity of her characters and their settings. We were taken to the post office and of course made to stand in line. We were taken to the African jungle and to a carnival mid way, all with the greatest of ease due to Schade's character impersonations. She had us laughing as she became a housewife doing the dishes who enters a Walter Mitty w...

M.^^Hhised over Multi-purpose purpose [Newspaper Article] — Capitol Times — 24 January 1983

M.^^Hhised over Multi-purpose purpose Photograph by Joe Hart By Robert Rejmaniak It stands on the corner of 1st and 0 streets. It is ^nown to some as the Multi-purpose building; to others, as the office building for continuing education; to others, merely as the Gym, and many don t know it at all. i} . .... t On a campus with only two main buildings, it s ironic that one ot them is so little known and under utilized. Perhaps part of the problem is that there are multi-purposes for this Multi-purpose building. . To begin with, the second floor of the structure is filled with offices of admissions, financial aid, and veterans affairs. Further down the second floor hallway is the career planning and placement offices. The rest of the structure is dedicated to athletics. There is a recreational area on the second floor that is divided into two oarts. On one side of the partition is a weight-room with strengthening equipment; including two universals, a set of free weights, and...

Capitol administration red-faced over bookstore control blunder [Newspaper Article] — Capitol Times — 14 February 1983

Capitol administration red-faced over bookstore control blunder Hershey Medical Center's bookstore shares autonomy only with the Capitol Campus store in the PSU system. By Joseph Guberman Capitol Campus' administration had a big surprise this week when the Capitol Times informed them about a classic bureaucratic blunder, which has left the campus' bookstore in administrative limbo since 1967. Our administration assumed that control of the bookstore was in the hands of University Auxiliary Services, which maintains 18 bookstores in the Penn State University Commonwealth System. According to Dr. John Joseph, administrative assistant to the Provost, "every one of my seventeen years at Capitol Campus, I would have sworn we had no control over the bookstore." However, at University Park, Auxiliary officials had another view. John Bischoff, Director of PSU's Commonwealth System, said, "From what I've been told, my area of responsibility does not include Capitol Campus Bookstore." ...
