Having driven about five miles, to the Northeast part of Genoa, we came to a house where lay upon his bed a Mr. Cowles, who had been at work upon the Malony farm, and had boarded in that family. He was suffering severely; he complained of great pain in every part of his person, from head to foot. His mouth was dry and husky, and he had some fever. After spending a few mements with him, we drove to the Malotiy farm, where the whole family were suffering with this terrible disease ; an...

It is singular enough that so soon after the appearance . f that wonderful little book The Bealities of Irish Life , : * the humor and pethos of which hare afforded so much enjoyment , wholly apart from its political meaning , there should come out a volume of quite similar character , written from a standpoint of Irish politics directly opposite to that of Mr . Trench . Sally Cavanagh , or the Untenanted Graves , is tho title of a tale of Tipperary , by Charles J . Kickham , who is an Irish patriot . Mr . Trench told us stories of real life that seemed like fiction ; Mr . Kickbam relates a fictitions narrative that has manifestly real life for its basis . His object is to excite the reader against the tenant system by showing how Sally Cavanagh was persecuted unto death by a grasping landlord , one Orindem . But having mede the reader acquainted with the wicked Squire and the victims of his cruel avarice , Mr . K...
