Taking the constitution as a whole we are well satisfied, and will do all that we can to make its adop tion as unanimous as possible. We do not believe the voting against it will be considerably in Chaves county. While some minor defects are noted, of course, practically all the more severe criticism we have heard is in regard to the clause plac ing the entire control in the hands of the land commissioner and the other in regard to the failure of the framers to pro vide for negro schools. All matter intended for publication should reach us as early in the week as possible, not later than Wednesday at farthest, and if by southbound train should be mailed so as to reach us Tuesday evening. In writing names please use care to write them plainly and do not say "Mr. Smith, Miss Jones or Mrs. Farris," but write it "J. C. Smith, Mrs. A. H. Far rb or Miss Hattie Jones," as the case may be, so that the readers may know which Mr. Smith, Mrs. Jones or Miss Far ris is the subject of the item, ,and thus avoid confusion of names and parties.
