TO OUR PATRONS: Iji- Condition confronting us in the operation of our ex change at Corpus Christi make imperative an increase In rates. 'I'he Corpus Christi exchange has not earned a reasonable re iurn upon our investment for the past few years and this un satisfactory condition is due to the inadequacy of the rate. The present rates were established under conditions vastly different from thoic of the pretcnt time. It is wdl known that the increase in the cost of 'materials in the past three years has been enormous. 1 WEDNESDAY, JULY 31, 1918 THE CORPUS CHRIST! CALLER PAGE THREB r To the Public AN ANSWER TO AN ADVERTISEMENT OF THE SELF-STYLED "ACROSS-THE-STREET" BATH HOUSE. As a rule, we arc not conceited, nor do wc encourage in ourselves suspicions of unkind motives in others. Wc assign no evil intent to n mosquito unless it buzzes directly in our car. The "Across the Street" Bath House advertisement dis courses most glowingly, on the advantages of its unfortunate location, and cunningly insinuates that conditions of her more fortunate neighbors on the bay, are most insanitary. As the bath house of Uncle Sam, and our own, are the only ones so situated, and our sanitary arrangements are iden tical, we arc forced to the conclusion that this shaft was di rected at us. Your Uncle Samuel, you know, maintains his bath house for his own use, and is not a competitor. As Uncle Sam is an expert on sanitation, and since our bathhouses are identical in sanitary arrangements, wc must reluctantly conclude t...
