Although the Court would not excuse us, we hope our readers will. GOV. R. C. HcCORMICK. The election is over. Gov. R. C. McCormick goes back to represent his constiuents for two years long er, without the slightest opposi tion. The meed of praise in this popular demonstration cannot be fully comprehended, except upon the basis of the universal satisfac tion, that appears and is made manifest all over the Territory, with the services and. labors of this faithful servant in the hall of Congress. ' LOCAL MATTERS. District Court. The Second Judicial District Court, Judge De Forest Porter, presiding, conven ed last Monday morning. The Calendar was a pretty long one, but upon many of the cases being called, it was found that they were settled. The U. S. Grand Jury, however, has furnished se veral cases, and the Territorial Grand Jury, which is about to com plete its labors, and whose report we will publish in our next, have, so far, furnished sufficient fuel to "keep the pot boiling" for se veral weeks. The cheapest place to buy goods for Souora, at H. E. Baker's. - Election Returns. We are unable to present the returns of the late election this week. The Board of Oanvasers meets to-morrow, therefore the official returns will appear in our next. O. O. Howard be assigned to the, ' command. The absurdity of the demand is in itself sufficient to convince us that they have been Influenced into this by some one who had a direct interest in the matter. When Gen. Howard loft this Territory, ho acknowl edge that Gen. Crook and himself were fully agreed as regard to the policy to be pursued against the hostile Apaches.
