Untitled [Newspaper Article] — Sausalito News — 3 September 1885

What has become of the project of establishing ways at Sausalito and of a brewery at the old reduction works? If the projectors do not begin to act soon others will take advantage of their ideas, for either of the propositions would if carried out yield handsome returns. As to the ways, our proximity to the city and the preference given our Sausalito harbor for anchorage, and by the yacht clubs, would make this this the very best place to build ways for the accommodation of any kind of vessels. As to the second proposition, a brewery at the reduction works, it is plain that no better place could be found In the state. Here is an abundance of pure flowing water right at the side of suit- able buildings, and what finer place for storing bottle beer could be found than an excavated cellar in the side of a knoll. The beer could be shipped daily to the city on a vessel owned by the company which could return with other necessary freight. Some one will postively take advantage of these su...

SOCIETY. [Newspaper Article] — Sausalito News — 3 September 1885

SOCIETY. Reports of weddings, parties, receptions events in society of interest to the general public and personal movements respectfully solicited from all parts of Marin County. They must always be accompanied by the name of the writer. A pleasant little party of our residents met at the Pacific Yacht Club House on Monday evening for a social dance and to "speed the parting guest," as one of the families present were soon to leave for their San Francisco home. The spacious 'fireplace' in the hall was lighted up for the first time this season, and the old-fashioned "backlog and fore-sticks" of oak with intermediate woods glowing with warmth made the beautiful hall of the Clubhouse look so cheerful and comfortable that it was with much reluctance the guests departed for their homes. The night was fine as though to specially suit the occasion, and with pleasant conversation, music and dancing the happy hours too swiftly passed away. The guests sat down to a splendid supper at midnight...
