Begun in 1985. the Texas Independence Express will be an historic collection of antique steam powered locomotives and restored railroad passenger, baggage and freight cars which will tour Texas and visit more than 150 cities and towns during 1986. Yet with a little organization and a few short- cuts, even the most harried mom can throw a terrific birthday bash. Lists are the key to a well- organized party. Begin your planning with a guest list, compiled about one month be- fore the party date. Next make a shopping list for non-food items. Let your child choose a theme for the party like cartoon or TV characters, and select invita- tions, decorations and favors reflecting that theme. Busy moms might find it convenient to limit the menu to cake, ice cream and bever- ages. While home-baked birth- day cakes are special, they take a great deal of time to prepare. The solution is a qu...
