Municipal Inspection of the Town. A CLEAN BILL OF HEALTH. The annual municipal inspection ~-of the town was made on Friday after noon. The Mayor (Mr John Wilson), accompanied by Cr Nethercott and the 'Medical Officer (Dr Barber) drove round the whole of the town, and returned perfectly satisfied with its sanitary and general condition. SOUTH AUSTRALIA. SALTING A MINE. Adelaide, December 14. The adjourned meeting of the shareholders of the Angepena Trea sure Gold Mining Company was held to consicle the alleged salting of the mine. A number of members of Parliament were present. The com mittee appointed to enquire into the matter reported having obtained a report from an expert, and they ex pressed the opinion that undoubtedly the mine was salted, They therefore decided to take steps to rescind the contract entered into for the purchase of the property, and for the prosecution of those persons whom the directors may be advised are liable to punish ment on evidence which has been obtaiued.

TOO MUCH HASTE. A man named Spencer, running to catch a New town tram, Avas in such haste that he did not perceive a tram coming in the opposite direction. lie was knocked down and run over, sus taining injuries from which he died. It is said that Spencer's haste was due to his desire to take medicine he had just obtained for a sick person.

THE FINANCIAL POSITION. The revenue returns from all sources for the past eleven months show a sum of JSS,GO8,922 received, u gainst £8,863,545 for the corresponding period of last year. The largest de creases appears for lands, £107,395, and stamps, £1 5,567. The railway reuenue increased by £38,035, postage £15.426, and Customs £10,022.

THE DEAN CONSPIRACY CASES MR CRICK ACQUITTED. The hearing of the Dean case was continued to-day. Mr Justice Cohen decided that there was no case against Mr Crick to go to a jury, and acquitted him. Mr Crick then entered the wit ness box, and gave evidence at some length, denying that he was aware of Dean's guilt, or that - there was - any conspiracy to defeat the ends of justice. He stated that after the Commission had concluded its labours, Sir Julius Salomon expressed his belief in Dean's guilt, but said he thought he should be released, Sir Julian added that from 41000. to £2000 could be raised . to get Dean out of the colony. :

Items of News. This evening a meeting will be held at the Australia Hotel of persons desirous of forming a Koad Board for the East Coolgardie Dis trict. The importance of the subject should . ensure a large atteudauee. 'A number of friends assembled at the Aus tralia Hotel on Saturday evening to wish bon voyage to Mr T. W. Lyons, who leaves to-day for Adelaide, and also the Mayor (Mr Wilson) who leaves for Perth. Toasts were drunk in champagne, and the usual, musical items were interspersed, the, party breaking !iip at a late hour, after 'spending \i 'most en 'joyable evening. A public service in connection with the Anglican Churh was held in the ? Courthouse, which was lent for the occasion, on Sunday evening. There was a good attendance, and the Ecv E. M'.
