ADDITIONAL DISCOVERIES. Wombeyan Caves [Newspaper Article] — Robertson Advocate — 21 June 1898

ADDITIONAL DISCOVERIES.   Wombeyan Caves. A wire from Goulburn to yesterday's Sydney papers announces that an im- portant discovery of new caves at Wom- beyan has been mnde by the caretaker, and partly explored by him and others. The new caves are said to contain many novelties, and cover much more extensive area than those previously known. Over a mile of caves in one general direction can be traversed, which fact will furnish some idea of the importance of the discovery. To residents of this district, an addi- tional interest will be given to the news of this discovery by reason of a start having been made with the road from the locality of Bowral to the caves, which has been under considera- tion at various times for some years past. As stated in this paper a couple of weeks ago, a small gang of men are already engaged upon tbe work of con- structing the road, and it is expected that many more will be put on shortly.
