GLORIOUS RAINS. [Newspaper Article] — The Times and Northern Advertiser, Peterborough, South Australia — 4 June 1920

GLORIOUS RAINS. On Monday morning a nice rain set in from the north-west, and continued all day; up to 3 p.m., 25 points were registered. In the night, the fall was very heavy, and on Tuesday morning, up to 9 a.m., one and a half inches were recorded. It seems to have been a good general rain throughout the north-west, as over an inch up to two inches were registered right through to Vardea. The downpour will be of great benefit, as it was wanted very badly. The crops will have a good start now, and feed will come up. All dams and tanks are full. The water in the drain ran for nearly 20 hours, and the railway reservoir, consequently, overflowed.

—Notes from the Fence.— [Newspaper Article] — The Times and Northern Advertiser, Peterborough, South Australia — 4 June 1920

-Notes from the Fence. ' A good game. Mart Brennan best on ground. ' Terowie likely to put up a strong stand for premiership. ' Good, systematic play will do much - to win the shield. Saints lost a good goal through a mistaken decision, according to rules. Terowie also lost a goal through a little smartness on the part of a sup porter, which was unnoticed by the goal umpire. The central umpire gave a very fair demonstration. Fogarty (Saints), Lang and Trem bath (Terowie) very prominent at times. Excitement very keen -and play sloped by supporters. Even a fight to liven the proceedings.

EROWIE .DEFEAT SAINTS BY A POINT In consequence of the fine day, though a strong ivind was blowing to the South, a large crowd assembled on the Terowie oval on Saturday to witness the match between the above teams. B<">th clubs were unbeaten, and spectators looked forward to a splendid game, and they were not disappointed. Saturday's match was a free-and easy sort of game. Kicking in the ruck was no breech of the rules, while rcrimmages were more than enough. Yongala followed the Rambler s krand example set on the previous Saturday by lining up in the shed and marching in file on the ground, while the Burgs lined up or. :he ground ju=i hcfore play commenced. The winners were best represented by Howard, Johnsor. Victory, \Vif l.ams, Carr, C. and H. Gleeson, Bar ker. Miller, and Harford; whiie Hawke, Gay, Tnpney Sharley, Bea gly, FuHarton. Tonkin, Brennen, and Chinner stow' out well for the Burgs. The N.E.F. Association will try conclusions with the Angaston eigh teen to-morrow,1 ind Gawler on Mon day. We wish them good luck. The Yongala's played a great gami last Saturday, their combination, mar king. and kicking was good, while the Burgs displayed a reverse of form' t.-> the previous Saturday, when they fnt up a great battle.
