A Questionable Dismissal [Newspaper Article] — Warwick Argus — 8 May 1880

A Questionable Dismissal Mn. M'ILWHAITH is " doing it" in Lon don just now with a rather high hand, and we earnestly hope that his exercise of authority in nt least one instance has not been overstrained. We refer to what appears to be the peremptory dismissal of Mr. THOMAS HAMILTON, the Secretary to the Queensland Go vernment. Were Mr. HAMILTON an unknown and uutricd man the matter of his discharge would concern us slightly, but as be is known to us per sonally, we cannot resist tho oppor I unity now afforded of saying a few words in behalf of one who, though summarily dismissed, has hitherto en joyed the good opinion of every person with whom ho has been brought in contact. Mr. HAMILTON was always to be found at his post, and as an energetic man of business be will bo well and favorably remembered to-day at Ipswich. WbilBt wo arc quite pre pared to accord Mr. M'ILWEAITH the measure of praise duo to Lim for suc cessfully floating tho loan, and his victory in regard to the transport...
