ACCIDENT AT THE STATION. [Newspaper Article] — Democrat — 2 October 1915

ACCIDENT AT THE STATION. A young man named Banfield met with a serious accident at the Eakbank railway Btation on Tuesday last, which resulted in him being taken to the hospital suffering from a compound fracture of the right arm and concussion of' the brain. It appears that the unfortunate young man was crossing the line to obtain information from the guard of a train standing at the opposite platform, when he was struck by a light engine. It is stated that there was no necessity for him to be .near the engine as there was ample room to stand out of its way, and Mr. Wright, the night stationmaster, ad vises that he witnessed the accident, and it was the result of the man not taking notice of his position between the platforms, when he should have. However, it is not difficult to make an error, and though he must have known a train may pass any time, it is a matter for regret that, for making such a slight mistake, he now lies in a serious condition. Enquiries were made at the hos p...
