THE COMET TOWNSHIP. [FROM OUR OWN CORRESPONDENT.] [Newspaper Article] — Morning Bulletin — 15 March 1878

THE COMET TOWNSHIP.     [FROM OUR OWN CORRESPONDENT.] We have got the railway opened, and the report of all the proceedings on that auspicious occasion has appeared in your columns. I must, therefore, confine myself to matters since that date. I regret to say that beyond placing the inhabitants of the Comet in daily communication with Rockhampton, the benefits arising from the opening of the line are very nominal. For a few days after open- ing for general traffic, storekeepers and others took advantage of getting up a supply to replenish their stocks, but now very little except building material is arriving at the station. This is coming up in large quantities, and in every direction the noise of the hammer and saw can be heard putting up buildings both for business premises and private dwellings. The town grows rapidly, WK llave got ilia rajlway opened, ami thc report of all tim ju'i iL'i'u* lilias 'iii iii al auspicious oeeasiun lus appeared in your colu...
