Poetry and Fiction. The Sea Wall. [Newspaper Article] — The Byron Bay Record — 29 August 1903

I -_sbefyu and 'j/fofoon. R ? [?] ? ♦♦ ? Creepers cling never with tender arms ? To fold you round ; Bare and unhung your grey stone.-! are From top to ground. Only the sea creeps shimmering To kiss your feet ; Smiling and joyous, or slumbering With dreamings xweet, Sometimes the waves come laughingly Up to your side, Thinking to win you— carry you Off on the tide. Dancing and splashing, they cover you With kiss upon kiss ; Hold you and fold you and bury you, Beaming with bliss. Ever the sea comes courting yon : And for yjur sake, \ The hearts of the waves despairingly i At your feet break. I Little you care for the waves' embrace ; j But just for two Dreamers who dream by your dear grey side : Your heart is true.

NEW SOUTH WALKS STATE ! EXHIBIT. The National Exhibition of Queensland for 1903 will bo held at least remarkable for the interest it has created outside the State, (says the Qucenslandcr). The district ex hibits from Glen Innes and the Clarence were a new and important feature ; but that of the New South Wales Agricultural Department has even greater significance. The rea son for -the display of our neigh bour is said to be a desire to let the people of this State see what perfection the New South Wales de partment has attained in the art of fruit preserving. That is certainly |a very laudable ambition, and. judg iing from tlit; grand collection of dried and and preserved fruits pre [sented to the view of the thousands [visiting the Exhibition, the value of 'the trophy as an educational factor cannot be over-estimated. The col lection comprised fruits candied, dried, and bottled. The fruits so treated are raisins, apricots, peaches, plums, pears, figs, prunes, Japanese plums, and 'c...
