There is reason to be gratified at the unmistakable evidences ot the passing away of sectionalism. The Southern Industrial Convention, which was held in Philadelphia, at forded an opportunity to both sec tions for reciprocal manifestations of the friendly feelings entertained by one section for the other. l'he speeches delivered before that body were replete with utterances which were at once creditable to the speakers and to the counstituencies that they represented. The dis cussions were singularly free from the least intimation of sectional prejudice. The press of Philadel phia displayed a spirit of broad pa -triotism, and with admirable tinsel fishness co-operated with the South erm delegates in making known -the needs and resources of Dixie.
