It ap pears to have exhausted its energies in electing a United State Senator. The most important action has been the rati fication, by a unanimous vote in boU House j, of the Amendment to the Consti tution abolishing Slavery in the United Slates; Theprineipal bill that has be come law, np to this time, is an amend tne'nt to the Tnx'law, the main feature of which is compelling a man to pay tax up on bis debts. Tbe provision allotting each person to ddnct the amount of bis debts from the valne of his personal prop erty, is repealed. Thns: if a poor man wishes to cultivate a farm, lie purchases a team,' and gives his note for the amount. Oo the 31st of January, while posted belovr Ivey's Ford, where the steamboats were attack d,-snd were still blockaded by the rebel Brooks' command, the boys of Company D., 14th Kansas Cavalry, planned and executed a daring enterprise.
