Some of our Territorial exchanges have gone so far as to place us on the very verge 6r a great calamity. Another Apache war! The causes alleged were a want 6X rations and of troops. Troops make money, but don't ahvaj's make peace. The Eighth Infantry wouldn't have killed a hostile Apache if the' had been kept in Arizona twenty years. They did more to engender strife than to preserve peace while they were here. We did well to get rid of them. There was some cause for alarm on account of the failure of the ration supply at San Carlos. This was caused by red tapo late appropriations and a "Want of practical business management and good common sense at the Indian office. The Indians from the Rio Verde to the ltio Grande were concen trated at San Carlos and promised food from the Government. They can't live there unless ...

In another column will be found a telegraphic request from the citizens of Tucson to the Department Com raander, asking him to station a few cavalry guards along the Southern Pa cific Stage line to protect the United States mails.and the traveling public from the depredations of highwaymen. Should that sheet fall into the bands of a stranger be would conclude that the Enterprise and Campbell were the only gentlemen in Arizona. It look9 very much as though the Enterprise and its candidate belong to that class of weak and narrow minded men who seek to build themselves up by pulling down men of real ability and merit. From Marion's recent style of writing we judge that the virtues possessed by himself and his hero are so few and dim as to rcmaia utterly invisible un less the characters of all good men are thoroughly blackened; hence the mud. This may be a dignified style of polit ical warfare, but though accused of being a " ring and monopoly organ," we are quite willing that Marion should hold a monopoly in that sort of business.
