Arizona Sentinel. SATURDAY, - - J AXU ART 11, 1S79. Tombstone District. This lugubrious name is that given to one of the most prom ising mining Uistricts of Arizona. It has already caused some ex citement in mining circles, and is destined to create much more. Its mines show very large crop pings of surpassingly rich ore, and work done on them verifies predictions of their great value. The principal mines so far dis covered lie within a space covered by a radius of two miles. The first locations were made about nine months ago. Since then work was suspended for several months awaiting result of pen ding negotiations. This fact and the normal poverty of prospectors explain the tardy development of the mines. Ep'erts have been unanimous in declaring the sur face prospects' bf Tombstone phenomenal in combined rich ness and extent; work is now being done which discloses their value below cround. Eastern capital has been well invested there in the purchase of many good claims. One comple...

Arizona Sentinel. SATURDAY, - - JANUARY 25, 1S79" To Tombstone. Prom Tucson to Tombstone one has a choice of several good roads. That how followed by the stage a roomy vehicle drawn by four good horses, strikes across a great plain, along the base of the hills, toward the gap between the Santa Catarina range, whose sum mits are darkened by extensive pineries, and the Whetstone Mountains, where gallant Cusli hig and Simpson met their death in a reckless stand against an overwhelming number of Apactr es. This plain is of good soil covered with fair grass and scat tering clumps of larrea.- Though waterless, it presents many spots favorable for obtaining water by "wells. The excellence of the nat ural roads over it soon becomes monotonous, and one is glad to enter the cauon forming the pass, with its clear stream and varied shrubbery and timber. In places the canon widens into meadows whose slight declivity retards the flow of water and forms marshes which have ever been a favorite past...
