Great Numbers of Cattle Ticks Are Feared as Result of Mild winter. Baton Rouge, March 23.--The Agricultural Experiment Station and the State Crop Pest Commi, sion are sending out the following important bulletin to farmers, urging the burning over of all I pasture and uncultivated lands so as to destroy cattle ticks and cot ton boll weevils. The bulletin is ai follows: The winter just past has been an exceptionally mild one, and I the weather conditions have been such as to favor the survival un harmed of a large per cent of the tick eggs in pastures and fields where tick-infested cattle roamed or were pastured last summer and autumn. It is well known that the adult female ticks, when they have completed their growth and have become fully engorged with blood, drop from the cattle to the ground and there lay many hundreds of eggs which eventually hatch into seed ticks or baby ticks.
