A scouting party from Fort Louis, operating 011 the north fork ;of Smoky Hill river, report discovering, on the 3d inst., the bodies or three meu and a woman, murdered by the Indians. The parties killed were from Blue Ridge, Ooorgia. They were emigrants seeking a location. The woman's skull was crushed, and all the bodies more or leas mil-tilat-ad. Within the. last two weeks eleven persons have been killed by Indians in west ern and Bonthweetom Kaneas, and several others are missing, supposed to have met the same fate. Skirts are about three and a half yards in breadth ; formed of a front prore, one or two side gores, and a full width behind, with all the fullness drawn back by strings or stout elastie bnds, set on un derneath. NEWS GF THE WEEK, EAST. The Grant locomotive works of Pat erson, N. J., are understood to be in some trouble. The contract for fifty locomotives for the Russian government had conditions attached to the time of delivery, which the Grant company found it impossible to comply with, and work thereon haa, in the meantime, suspended. The company show a large sur plus over liabilities, but in a very unavailable shape, and the future of its affairs is depen dent altogether upon the disposition of the Russian government to be lenient as to the in terpretation of the contract. USEFUL RECIPES. To Make Pepper Vinegar. Tate Fix large red peppers, slit them up, and boll them in three pints of strong vine gar down to one quart. Strain it, and botlo for use. It will keep for years. Otster Sauce. Take fifty oysters, rinse, and put them in a etew-pan with one gill of cream. As Boon as they be come hot, stir in one ounce of butter, 'mixed to a paste with a little flour. This is a delightful sauce to eat with boiled turkey or fine fat young pullets, in which case the fowls should also be staffed with oysters and bread-crumbs. To Borjj Eice, Carolina Fashion.
