Tho attempt to compromise the Tavlor count v bond trouble hat again failed and the sale of property levied on will begin on the Hli. The Treasurer lias bought in 12,500, 000 of government i per cent. bonds, not yet matured, at rates ranging from $109 to 1(110. The amount saved by buying them was over $242,000. This is one very sensible way to get rid of a part of the surplus. Caldwell county is having a con tested election case over tho office of Sheriff. FRIDAY, SEPTEMBER 21887. CHAS. M. MKACHAM editor. Two of the members of Got. lluck ner's cabinet Adams and 11 ill were Ft deral soldiers. J. M. Korr, editor of the Jessamine Journal, has departed as mysterious ly at the poll books of that county disappeared some weeks ago, and divers creditors arc. left with the bag to hold, so to speak. Kerr was au Importation from Ohio. The official count of the vote cast lu the last election was made Aug 29. Excluding the county of Jessamine, which gave the Democratic ticket a majority of 218, the plurality fur liuckner is 16,79V. Buckiier'a actual majority over all is about 4,000. Suppose the Democrats should nominate Cleveland and Dlack, what would the pension grabbers say to that ticket ? Gen. Black's record as a Federal General and as the head of the Pension Bureau ought to satisfy even the meat lire-eating crauk of the Foraker-Fairchild-Tutlle crowd.
