Solomon Sucker the True, Ipeaketh. [Newspaper Article] — Marysville Daily Appeal — 14 March 1860

Solomon Sucker the True, Ipeaketh. [For the Appeal.l Now, it came to pass, that the daughters of Yuba City were gathered together and said, "Behold it is Leap Year—let us make unto ourselves a day of teasting and joy, and of sending portions one to another. In the eighth day of this month, at even, shall we celebrate it according to all the rites of it, and according to all the ceremonies thereof shall we keep it. Only in this will we not keep it: behold the publican who furnisheth grub for the young men will demand of us, shekels of gold and shekels of silver in payment thereof. Be Punctual. [Newspaper Article] — Marysville Daily Appeal — 14 March 1860

Be Punctual. " Don't ask that niau to be a bearer at my funeral," said a very facetious, but punctual man, of one wbom lie knew to be slow and dilatory, "he always kept me waiting all my life, and I don't wish to be served in the same wuy after I am dead." Now, without pretending to excuse this somewhat irreverent remark, we do really think that it contains a world of meaning. Of all bores to the punctual, methodical man. the sluggish, dilatory one is the greatest. He always comes at the eleventh hour, and just a moment too lite—just in time to spoil all your previous arrangements. Beside the neglect of business, is the wear and tear of patience, and the waste of time, which you can not lightly lose. An amusing anecdote is told of Dr. Chalmer s father, who was noted for his habits of punctuality. His aunt, who resided with him, appeared one morning late at breakfast, and to screen herself from the scolding that she was sure to get, she said, "Oh ! Mr. Chalmers, I had such a dream, l...
