"And sure I'llt S as good uas my word," said Phelim, as Mary O'Connor pointed to some of the prettiest growing on the very edge of Kate Hill, a precipltious ridge of rugged rock, 300 feet high, over a shelving griund, wild, broken, but lovely, forming a base toone of the Imost picturesque steeps in Ireland, and sweeping miles away from the awful majesty above, to Belfast,Carrick fergus, with its ancient castle, the wide " lough," and surnounding mountains that stretch far off to the east, and sink softly in to the sea, as a child in its mother's lap. The whole expanse is rich in cornoflelds and pasture, and studded with farm-houses, gentlemen's seats, and eottages, all bright and sunny like an Irishman's laugh, and tel ling of contentment if not of wealth. In the midst of all this besauty, Belfast lies sleep. Ing in the light, and glancing sails...
