Richmond. [Newspaper Article] — Hawkesbury Chronicle and Farmers Advocate — 26 August 1882

Bichmond. THE RIVAL BUGGT MAKERS.-We notice somebody under the norn de plume of " Truth and Justice" writes to the Australian in the most agonizing manner anent a par in our issue of the 5th instant, drawing attention to the new Buggy and Coach building establishment of Messrs Timbrell and Goodfellow We f¿.ii to see that Mr. Mitchel, has anything to grumble about with the wording of our par even supposing it is not strictly accurate . and if " Truth and Justice" be not Mr. Mit- chell himself, or either of his sons, we cer- tainly do not recognize their (Truth and Jus tice)interference in the matter. As for the sneer conveyed in the letter referred to, as to Messrs Timbrell and Goodfellow's ability, we are under the impression that the writer has just over-reached himself, for unless these men were good workmen, it is hardly likely that Mr. Mitchell would have kept them so long a time as eight months in his establishment ; and if they are what it has been said they are-first class wo...

SPARKS [Newspaper Article] — Hawkesbury Chronicle and Farmers Advocate — 26 August 1882

SPARKS " Soldiery " ii a new way" a HeraTä man has of speaking of a man's soldierly qualifi- cations. One don't hare to look far for mistakes in tue same big paper, now-a-days. Cheap j labour, they nay. AHow me, your Grace : Aren't the men, whose shoes your Marist Brothers will step into, Catholics ; and don't they receive pay from that very Department you affect to despise ; and isn't it likely that they'll all become Public School teachers ? And may I faether ask, will they cease to be Catholics, because they receive such unholy money for their services? ¡ His Grace says, " time will tell." Yes I time will tell in more wajs than one : Tt -will te'l that Secular instruction will never recede ; its march will always be onward ; that is as as sure as the motto of Mother Church ii semper eadem. ! Still, taken from a Church going stand- point. Protestantism can't hold a candle to Romanism in Church government. The former is weaksned hv its individual- ism, while the other is one and in...
