Footscray Police Court. Wednesday, 8th May, 1867. (Before Messrs. Call, Brown and Dove) [Newspaper Article] — Williamstown Chronicle — 11 May 1867

Footscray Police Court     Wednesday, 8th May, 1867   (Before Messrs. Call, Brown and Dove)   William Saunders made an application to     the Bench for a summons against J.P. Brooks, a storekeeper at Station township. He complained that Brooks had been sup- plying little boys with ginger wine, cigars,   etc to the extent of 7s. 6d; and by threat- ening to summon the lads, he caused them     to take money from their parents, and one lad actually had to sell his boots to ply his score. The Bench pressed their sorrow that   they could not legally bring him before the Court; but requested the representatives of the Press to explose the matteras much as possible, so that the public might be made aware of his proceedings. James S. Dallaway's application for a license for a new house in the Geelong road, called the Plough Inn, was granted.
