The grain situation in relation to the demand for cars does no , improve to any noticeable extent in this part of the State . While the transportation officials say that a larger number of cars are coming each day it is also true that within the last few days the demand has increased . On the middle division of the Wabash Saturday there were orders for nearly 1 . 1 CK ) cars , the great majority of these orders coming from the grain men . The car distributors estimate that if the cars could be secured within ten days they could load 3 , 000 cars of grain . In the grain elevators from Catlin to Riverton a distance of less than 100 miles there are over one million bushels of corn . The elevator men in the majority of cases want to ship at once . Professional and amateur has suffered alike . Farmers in central Illinois went into it last fall and have emerged in bad shape . One man near Bloomington packed 00 , &lt; XK ) dozen in the expectation of reaching 40 cents and has just unloaded on a falling market at a dead loss . Cold storage men in Chicago have lost $ 1 , 200 on each carload . The demand expected did not come . Eggs have to be sold at a certain time and hens were never so busy during the winter season as they have been during the past , few months . The market went all to pieces this week and many a good man has gone broke with his eggs . |

DALBEY TALKS TJ TENANTS . University Instructor Speaks to Farmers of Ennis Estate . Decatur , March 24 . —William S . Ennis , manager of the Ennis estate , met wi . h the tenants at the high school Friday and had Uwight S . Dalby , instructor in farm crops at the University of Illinois , talk to them on corn growing . Mr . Ennis had sent a circular letter to all the tenanrs of the estate and asked that all of them might be present at the meeting as the question of corn growing was now being given considerable attenlion by agricultural colleges and was of great importance to every wide awake farmer . After the address in the afternoon Mr . Dalby had an individual talk with the farmers and made comments upon seed corn that each had been requested to bring for samples . As a whole the meetings were of great value and mariy new ideas of corn growing were received by those in the meeting . As Mr . Rathbone against Brig . Gen . Leonard AVood . He made an indorsement on the papers saying that no answer to the charges was required from Gen . Wood , and no action will be taken thereon , that it was known to the secretary of war that the charges in every respect were without -just foundation .-The secretary refers to the part taken by the military governor in the post office cases in which Rathbone was . a defendant , saying that Gen .
