Commencement . It is with pleasure that we hear of the formation of Gettysburg Clubs in almost all of our large eastern cities . This is a step in the right direction , and augurs good things for Gettysburg in the future . Let there be more of them formed soon . Where is the Harrisburg Gettysburg Club ? 1 know about 40 alumni in Harrisburg and immediate vicinity , yet I hear of no meetings or organization of these men . This bringing together the alumni and ex-Gettysburg men at intervals , will create a desire among them to visit the scenes of their college days and live over again some of that life . It stirs up some of the friendships which had been formed in those happy days . What better time to look in upon old Alma Mater than at Commencement time , when you are most likely to meet old classmates and friends ? Often I say to myself , why is it that so few of our alumni are seen on the campus , at that time , when our sister institutions not so high in rank as we are , have thei...

The musicol Club s Tmp . On Saturday last the College Musical Clubs returned from a week s concert tour in the Cumberland Valley . All the boys were in excellent spirits and reported a week of solid enjoyment . This is somewhat surprising when we consider the exceptionally severe weather which they experienced throughout the whole trip , and the necessary effect ol such weather on the sizes of their audiences . The Glee and Mandolin and Guitar Clubs , comprising twenty one men , left Gettysburg on Monday morning for Shippensburg , where they arrived early in the afternoon . The kind hospitality of the Shippensburg people was in immediate evidence , and our hoys were accorded a royal reception . In the evening , while a blinding snow storm was in progress , the Clubs performed before a large and very appreciative audience in the Opera House , the concert being given under the auspices of the Ladies Aid Society of Rev . Henry s church . Various social courtesies followed the concert ....

THE great interest which was taken in the indoor athletic work at the beginning of the term , has to a great extent died out , basketball being the only exception to the rule . Usually this state of affairs occurs every year , much energy is shown for awhile and then , after a shoit time a great deal of indifference . Our managers and all candidates for positions on the teams must realize that we have more at stake tliis year than ever before and that only hard , steady , systematic practice will accomplish the desired result . We have our base ball teputation to sustain , a reputation which is steadily growing , our track and relay teams demand our closest attention , for , must we not win the dual meet with Dickinson and thus not only wipe out last fall s bad defeat , but also set a standard in track athletics for the college ? The relay race at Philadelphia must sustain our past reputation in that branch of track athletics . Every man should realize what his duty is and not be la...

athletic hews . I . A . _Wiiglr _, oo . Reporter . Little has been done in the last week except in basket-ball . Here steady practice has been maintained , and the boys are reaching a high degree of efficiency . Let each class get down to hard work now , and _organise , and we will have an interesting set of events for the remain- der of the winter , systematic work in basket-ball will be resumed this week , as soon as the blocked condition of the railroads permits the arrival of supplies . The good beginning that was made in track training should not be discontinued either . By the first of next week we hope to see the work along all these lines again booming . Yet the boys cannot be entirely blamed foi this idleness . What has become of the committee that was appointed about a month ago to devise the best method of athletic government ? At every step , especially in endeavoring to secure a coach , the managers have been blocked by the thought that the committee s action would have...
