SUiford, Ky., August 18, 1885 W. P. WALTON. The law requiring two Magistrates to eit u an examining court in caee of feloniea should be repealed. When a Judge exam-into a felony charge he need not associate with him another Judge, and why the aamo rule not answer as to h Magistrate cm not be readily eeen. The rule ing two Magistrate results in confusion, is costly, and is of no practical good. Their fees are $2 each a day, and the Court of Appeals has decided that ten minutes ia a day in the meaning ol the fee law, and this fee must be paid out of the 8tate Treasury. The amount paid annually out of Treaoury to examining courts must be very large. By giving the power to one Magistrate two, tho amount, whatever it may be, will be rtduced one-half. Bat in its practical results, only one MtgUtrate decides the case anyway. We pay for two, but only get the decision of one. Section 71 of the code provide", among other things, that, "If they do not concur in the opinion that tbeie are reaso...

Stanford, Ky August 25, 1885 W. P. WALTON. The papers are publishing a cock and bull dorr to tbe flect that Mr. Tilden, in. cented at President Cleveland for asking hie advice In regarJ to certain appoint-' menta in New York and then ignoring bis suggestions entirely, has broken with the administration and will hereafter refuse it counsel, aid or comfort. The appointment of postmaster Peirson at Xew York was the primary cause of the breach, which was widened beyond reclamation by tbe subecnuent appointment of Hedden and the otner federal officers ol the city of New York. The story goes on to say that when Mr. Cleveland was in that citv on the occasion of the Grant objequles, Mr. Tilden refuted to see him or Mr. Manning, the latter of whom KOt a severe tongue lashing from one of the Satellites of the Sage of Grammercr Park. There la probably no truth in the story. Mr. Tilden is too great and too wide a man to act in eo childish a manner, or to use his private resentments to the damag...

""""T N N v u r Stanford, Ky., August 28, 1885 W. P. WALTON. The Owensboro Mtsscngcr thinks it nn easy matter to predict that Qen.
