Striplin has a smith shop in Monroe, recently opened. He is a good workman, and will exeeute jobs in his line of business to the com plete stisfaction of his patrons. Judge H, M. Spoflord will accept our thanks for a copy of his argument before'the Senate Election Committee in the ease of his contest with Kellogg for seat in the U. S. Senate. We have read the pamphlet carefully, and can eongratulate the Judge, at least, upon the force of his arguments. The Pellican saloon, kept by Mr. Ferry, besides being supplied with good lIquors, ofbrs to its customers dally a free lunch consisting of roast beef, soap, vegetablee, &c. There will be five weddings in Mon roe between now eand the middle of March. Guessing is in order. The most of our attorneys are at Rayville attending to the interests of their clients before the District Court which iis now in session in that place. Hon. Charles M. Conrad, a distin guished member of the New Orleans bar and Secretary of War under Taylor and Fillmore, died at his residence in New Orleans, on the 11th, aged 74 years.
