H I si M r l 71 Wl VL BIG FUMPS READY FOR WORK Trial Run tc be Made During the Com ing Week Everthng is Ready The work of installing the new pumping plant for the Consolidated Mines company at the big shaft en Contention hill has about been com pleted and -within a week it is expect ed that the pumps will be given a trial The steam connection are now being made and one or two connec tions on the water columns etc are being made The large triple expansion Prescott pump has been successfully lowered to the 600 foot station and is now ready for the steam to be applied to start it in motion The pump has a capacity of 1700 gallons per minute and is expected to lift a 15 inch col umn from tho station to the surface The two C inch Prescott duplex sink ing pumps have also been lowered in to place and she necessary connec tions made These pumps have a ca pacity of about COO gallons per minute they are expected to furnish the water for the main pimp for about thirty days when two more of the ...

h ih I fWmimmJifmkimiiiB K H W THE SHANNON MINE Discontinued Production Last Week New Concentrating Plant to Be Built The smelting works of the Shannon Copper company were started on May Gth 1902 and have been in continuous operation since that date but have been run to considerable disadvantage owing to the fact that most of the ores from this district are largely con centrating ores and should first go through the concentrator There lias been considerable delay on the plans and details of their concentrator work but they are now complete and work has already commenced and will be pushed forward vigorously As all the material for construction of the concentrator must necessarily be de livered over their high line rait oad over which all ore coke and coal had to be delivered for the smelter it would be absolutely impossible to de liver said material without great Incon venience to both construction work and the operation of smelter Conse quently they hare wisely decided to shut down...
