They won first in the half-mile relay. North Texas came through ahead of Navy by six yards to take the; half-mile relay in 1:27, after tak-i trig its heat earlier in 1:26.5. The Eagle team, made up of Bobby Dodd, Ed Rogers, Welby Williams, and Olvis Hicks, battled the Navy and NYU teams around the oval for a lap and a half and liickx pushed forward at the close of the race.
