BRUTAL ASSAULT ON A GIRL. A brutal attack was made upon a parlour-maid in the employ of Mrs. Hugh Dixon at Petersham on Sunday night by an armed burglar. The eirl suddenly came upon the latter in an upstairs 'bedroom while the family were at tea. The man at once prodnced a revolver, and threatened to shoot her if she made any noiso. Tha girl apparently attempted to raise an alarm, when the man struck heron the head with the butt end of the revolver, and knocked her semeleis He then bolted through the balcony door and disappeared down the verandah post. The girl was severely injured.
