Visitor Misrepresents Darwin Conditions Adelaide, Thursday Mr S Morrell, a resident of Perth at present in Adelaide, having spent a month at Darwin, .In commenting on the waterside labour at that port, he said that after having travelled considerably around the world he did not know of any other port where labour conditions were so bad. While in Darwin, Judge Beeby paid a visit to the town, and his visit had very littlo effect, for on the voyage of the Marella, jujfc finished, tho full gang averaged ß tons of cargo an hour, working one hold. The corresponding figure for any ports in the South was about 20 tons an hour which was managed without undue bustle. At. Sourabaya, with native labour, SCO tons were loadod into four holds between 7 a.tn und 7 p.m.. The Darwin men simply loafed,

Price Conigrave presided over a large attendance. The Balance Sheet covering the year was duly presented to the meet- ing and adopted this showing de- spite the difficulties regarding the formation, of the club a satisfactory credit balance. Before V. L. Lampe Esq S.M. and two J. P's, on Thursday. Kyriakos v Cornelius Maloney, adjourned from Sept. 1st. To Mr Barratt acting for plaintiff, the de- fendant said he was aware that his 9 adjudication in insolvency had been rescinded by the Supreme Court. He had earned about £30 from the previous trip of the Mangóla. He paid about £6 to the restaurant where he had his food but did not know what became of the rest.
