About half-past ten we .turned our backs on Kerang, and commenced what appeared to :be a. monotonous Journey During our first stage we met with some fine cattle being driven to rrarket, and a small mcb of sheep. Smiyth, was read for the first time. Mr Mackay resumed the debate on the motion by iMr Gaunson, for the abolition of Minining Boards. Ile opposed the proposi tiou, though he would have the boards re modelled, and alterations made so as to prevent unscrupulous persons getting elect ed through purchasing miners' rights for auppc:ters. Major Smith promised to deal with the subject next session, and the motion was withdrawn. The Contagious Diseases Prevention Bill was read a second time, and on the motion of M)r lBent it was referred to a select committee, consisting of Sir Bryan O'Loghlen, Messrs. E. Cottrell. Admiral H-ornby has gone to Cyprus to meet Ministers. \Vhen he returns the British fleet-are to be moved to the Gulf of Imid. Oct. 23. A Bulgarian committee has been appointed to select a candidate for the throne. They have chosen General Ignatief. The directors and manager of the City of Glasgow Bank have been re manded to Glasgow charged with falsi fying books and preparing fraudulent sheets and statements, thereby conceal ing the true liabilities of shareholders. James Morton and Co., Glasgow, have failed; liabilities, £2,500,000; assets most probably will meet liabilities.
