HOME MISSION FUND. [Newspaper Article] — The Kyabram Union and Rodney Shire Advocate — 28 September 1894

HOME MISSION FUND. Sunday, September 80th, is a red letter day in the diocese of Mclbourne of the Church of England, bcciuse through out the diocese in all churcheli a special collection will he taken up for the Bishop of Melbourne's Fund. This is thie Home Mission Fund, and from it nearly all the country clergy and readers have their stipends subsidised, and in many instances entirely supplied. The great crisis through which Mel bourne has lately passed his so materially affected the income of this Fund, that unless some other, source than the big city is found there will be ImanIy a poor minlister deprivred of what has perhaps been the surest part of his income. Not only the minister, but.the poorer parts of the diocese will suffer, because if there bu no money from this source to help tlcheir efforts it will Ibe intpossible for themt to retain their clergyman.a Now this will be very serious; we know that rce ligious instruction is not given in the schools, and alas, many of the h...

THE NEW ERA. SUGAR BEET. RULES FOR ITS CULTIVATION. [Newspaper Article] — The Kyabram Union and Rodney Shire Advocate — 28 September 1894

THE NEW ERA. SUGAR BEET. RULEtS FOR ITS CUI.TIVATIO\. In growing beets for sugars, the aim is not to produce large heavy irregular roots, but to grow small roots weigbhing about 2lbs., having smooth skin and regular pearslhape, without forks or pro tuberances which would entangle the soil and snake thenm ditficult to clean. Roots of about 1 to 2lslbs are the richest in sugar. 'To keep hem ctown to this size they are planted close together, the richer the soil the closer the planting. Climiato.-Probably. there are but,few parts of Victoria south of tlhi dividing line where beet-roots cannot be success fully growln, and north of the dividing line, in those soils which sie not too rich in potushl anid salt, they Ihave been grown bIy aid of irrigaltion. Beets, like maigolds, require pilenty of imoisture during the first twso monthts of their growth. In the latter stiges of their growth the formation.of sugar is sauil to be favoured not so itmuch by as hot ssstsssser as by dry weathler a...

A GREAT DEAL OF NONSENCE Has been written—and believed about Blood Purifiers. WHAT PURIFIES THE BLOOD? THE KIDNEYS PURIFY THE BLOOD ! and they alone. [Newspaper Article] — The Kyabram Union and Rodney Shire Advocate — 28 September 1894

A GREAT DEAL OF NONSENCE Ilas been writtein-and believed about Blood Purifiers. WHAT PURIFIES THE L001)? TIHE KIDNEYS PURIFY THE BLOOD ! iandll they alone. If diseased, however, they cannot, and the blood continually bccomies more im Ipure. Every drop of blood in the body goes through tlhe kidneys, tihe sewers of the system, every three minutes, night and day, while life endures. WARNER'S SAFE CURE puts the Kidneys in perfect Itealtl and Nature does thle rest. The heavy, dragged out feeling, the bilious attacks, Iheadauclhes, nervous luln rest, fickle appetite, all causedtl by poi soned bloodt, will disappear .wlheln the Kidnteys properly performt their func tions. There is no doubt abouti this. Thou santlds have so testified. 'lThe theory is right, the cure is right, and health fol lows as I niaturail sequencle. Be self-convinced through personal proof.

PASSING EVENTS. [Newspaper Article] — The Kyabram Union and Rodney Shire Advocate — 28 September 1894

PASSING EVENTS. [1v NOMAD.] I was extremely surpriscet, as indeed I i su lr ost le 'osr of ra residlents were, at your startling rrannounmement that the eminent Queen's Counsel, Ser gcant Buzfuz, was erngaged on the miost important trial of thel day, lartdell v. Pickwick. .1 learn that Sergeant Buza fuz has bccn retained at enormous cost as counsel for plaintiff, as has also Mr. Skintfn as junior counsel. I think when I enliglhtoen the public to trhe fact that one of the Imost elminent lcen of tihe day, and one who liad no eqrual in the divorce court (I presrume, froni experi ence.) has been engaged for thie defence, I think they will agree with me that this will in all probability Ie one of the most stupendous cases ever heard, and to which the great libel action Speight v. Syme will stand second in importance. Another fact which has comIe iunder my notice acciduntally, is that both these gentlemen Ihad been askedr to act Itas counsel in thie great case alreadly spoken of. This ten...

TATURA. [Newspaper Article] — The Kyabram Union and Rodney Shire Advocate — 28 September 1894

TATURIA. The Tatura Spring.,,Exhibition has won the proud distinctibn of being re cognised as the leading country shows and without doubt the honor is well deserved. The show grounds, are the prettiest in the colony, and situate as they are within 100 yards of the railway station the facilities afforded to exhibi tors as well as visitors cannot be ex celled. This year the secretary and coom mittoe have been particularly fortunate in securing public support, as the dona tions and contributions are far beyond anything ever expected. In foat there is a very embarrassment of riches. WithL a whole royal sheet of a closely printed prize list provided for, there are yet nearly a hundred donors whose contri butions are not yet allotted. WYell may the secretary exclaim, Mammnn oth ! Marvellous ! Majestic !!" Thes show, which wvill be held on thie 17th and 18th of October, promises to even excel the very best of its predecessors-and that is saying a great deal. In addition to the novelty of g...

THE NOVELIST. [Coes-aonr.] TALMUD; A Strange Narrative of Cen ..L1 Australia. FOUNDED ON NATURAL FACTS, By IVAN DEXTER. OHAPTER VIII. CosterIoen. The faces and cubes were so arrangcd that they reflected the light from one to the other in the most perfect manner. Some of the crystals appeared to have drops of water enclosed within them, 'and this added to the effect. The floor was composed of thi some pollucid material, bult by some agency it had been ' frosted' or dulled. This at once :attrac'ed the notice of Strang way. " How has this been done I wonder? It seems marvellous that anything short of human agency could have made this floor as it is." ' Perhalps it has been done by walk ing on it. Whatever mnade the paths we saw in the passage may have done it," replied Stanley. " No this has been done by hand and by design. I know a little about these things," Stranguay answered. IT COMES UP SMILING. 'Now then gentlemron the pnli tax. Attention please." Yes, it bobbed up serenely at the last meeting of the Rodney Council, but as it always does that no one was surprised. Tatura is a storlly petrel in the matter, and tlhe last discuission was quite is nrirmatedl and wa rn as anIy which harve gone before. The trouble arose through a letter from Mr .1.
