(Before the Mayor. and Messrs. Holden, Showers, and d e'Lean, J's.P.) John Corbett, on remand from" the City Court, Melboutrne, charged wtit embezzlhng money belonglog to his employer, was fur tliher remanded for seven days as the police were not prepared to go on with the case, and the" prisoner's solicitor was not in at tendanoce. - Three civil cases were alleal on but there was no attendance on behalf of any of the complainants. Tihe court was then aljournleLd. After a while the court was re-opened and Mr. Lyons madle an opplication for a protec tion order in the case of lBarnes -. iamres. The bench having read an aflidavit madle by, Mrs. Barnes, and heard.her evidence, granted the order.

LNorwich Union Sad v. North Star 2nd rcsulted in an easy victory for the former by an innings and I run. Hill 10 and Bailey 5 for Norwich, and French 7 and Lavender 4 for North Star, batted well. Bailey lnd Dickensbowlcd well forNorwich, as also did French and Hartley for North Star. Rainbow v. Britannia (for Clarke's Cup) resulted in a victory for the former by one intings and 47 runs, the scores being Britan nia 75 and21., Rainbow 143. MceKirdy 54 not out, Williams 25, mad Speight 17 played well for Rainbohw, as did Cohn :12 and 12, Pearce 14, and Duncan 7 for Britannia.
