The concert inaugurated by Mrs. Fan ning and Miss Cosgriff for tho purpose of assisting tho Drought Reliof Fund took place on Friday evening and proved a very great success, the large hall of tho School, of Atvts beiug filled from door to stage, no seat being uuoccupied. (/'oi'aki. A woll-attended mooting in connec tion with the annual regatta was held in the Council Chamber on Wednesday evening (says the ' R. R. Herald'), Captain Storoy presided, and reported that the result of tho canvass made by Mr. R' G. Benaud and himself had been satisfactory. The sum of £38 odd was promised, and with a closer canvass ho ? felt sure, thp amount could be increased to over £50. He had also been deputed to miiko inquiries as to whether Ballina Cltib was holding a regatta on 3rd of Juno. So far as could be ascortainod there was no prospect of Ballina having a regatta on that date, he 'thought they would be perfectly safe in taking June 3rd for the regatta here. Continuing our remarks of the ex hibits in connection with the Casino '8how,.^iye have to sayrthat the exhibits in the pavilion, although in point of .qualjty equal, to. any previous show, were 'not as regards -tho- number. In fancy work tho judges found great ditli culty:in; awarding, the exhibits being all so excellent. In our previons remarks wo alluded to tho fact of tho pavilion being kopt closed'to such a lato hour in the day, and which cause'd much disatis faction. Since thou we havo found that ,tha principal. cause-of delay was through, tho lato lirrival 'of sOmo' judges. The committoe in the future should try to avoid this by substituting other judges where those appointed are say one hour late. Most noticeable among the exhibits was Mr. R. V.
