MOTORING NOTES. [Newspaper Article] — The Mount Barker Courier and Onkaparinga and Gumeracha Advertiser — 8 April 1927

MOTORING NOTES. It is said that automobile tyres consume fully 80 per cent, of the world's annual production of crude rubber. The motor car, therefore, is~ the determining factor in rubber growing and in rubber prices. Se veral developments of recent years have had far reaching effects on the consumption of rubber in tyres. The change from fabric to cord tyred! of course, contributed very much to in= creased tyre life. This change is now in its final stage, and the fabric tyre will ho doubt soon be a relic of the past. Then came the switch from high pressure cords to balloons. It was at first believed that this change would give greater riding comfort at increased expense. PROLIFIC BERKSHIRE SOWS. A remarkable record has been es-1 tablished by the ttfo sister Berkshire sows,. Kingstone Belinda 3rd, and Kingstone Belinda 4th, granddaughters : of . the world-famous sow British Queen,. which started her breeding career In the Kingstone herd," Eng land, says the English ". "Live Stock Journal." • These two sows had first litters in August, 1920", and with regu lar breeding have produced—the fori-1 mer 128 pigs in 12 litters, and lhua-lat ter 117 pigs in 11 litters."
