We learn from det-patchea received . yesterday that Frasc McNaiht, E?q.f haa, for hinwelf and other gentlemtir associated with hitn, succeeded in purchasing the celebrated trot ting stallion, Gray Messenger, in New York, lie has a reputation in the North, second only to tliat of Elhan Allen, and Is one of the best trotters and finest horses In the country. His owners will bring him to this city in a few days. We congratulate the stock-raising community on the fact that Gray Messenger will soon be among us.' Tbs Races Yestebdat There was a large attendance at the Course, yesterday, drawn out principally to see the pacing match for $2,000. The first race was a sin gle daeh of a mile, which we did not get there in time to see. The pacing mateh, mile heat, best three in five, was won by dp'. Kinttey. In the first heat the 'Captain" broke up badly, and the mare succeeded ia getting borne first some lengths ahead. In the secoud heat, the horse tok the lead, kept it all the way, and distanced the mare badlv. The first heat was made in 2:36$ ; second heat, 2:35. Meixcmi drove the horse; Fcchkk, the mare.
